By |2023-02-07T00:06:37+00:00September 2, 2021|Uncategorized|Comments Off on SOMEBODY’S HOME is available for preorder!

Excited to announce that my latest suspense novel, SOMEBODY'S HOME, is now available for preorder! I'd love for you to add it to your TBR pile on Goodreads and BookBub, and a preorder would be great. Here's a little more about the book! A quiet neighborhood. A lovely home. A promising new beginning. In a heartbeat everything can change in this propulsive novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda. Julie Jones has left her suffocating marriage. With her teenage daughter, Jess, she’s starting over. Their new house in Oceanside is the first step toward a new life. Even if it does come with the unexpected. The previous owners, a pastor and his wife, have left something—or rather someone—behind… Tom Dean has a bitter hatred for the father who considers him a lost cause, and for the woman who’s moved into their family’s house. The [...]

“A thriller about grief, loss, and memory that will hit you right in the heart.” ~ Bustle

By |2023-02-07T00:07:42+00:00March 1, 2019|The Favorite Daughter novel|Comments Off on “A thriller about grief, loss, and memory that will hit you right in the heart.” ~ Bustle

Beyond thrilled to report that, in addition to the fabulous STARRED review in Publishers Weekly last week -- "An exceptional psychological thriller from Rouda .... Suspense fans will be amply rewarded." -- THE FAVORITE DAUGHTER was featured on Bustle with an exclusive excerpt! You can read the entire piece here. A sampling for you below: EXCERPT: The Favorite Daughter SUNDAY THE NIGHT BEFORE 6:30 p.m. “I loved you, Mary.” “Who are you talking to?” David materializes behind me. He thinks he snuck up on me but I heard him coming. I see the judgment in his dark blue eyes as he shakes his head. “Nobody.” We lock eyes. He looks at the photo in my hands and I know he thinks I’m talking to myself. Another “creepy” habit of mine, as he says. I place the photo back where it belongs. He’s changing in the closet. [...]

On branding and going a little darker

By |2023-02-06T23:40:40+00:00December 5, 2016|advertising|Comments Off on On branding and going a little darker

The interesting thing about having a background in branding is that it's fairly easy for me to see other people's brands, and help them bring them to life. In fact, I wrote a whole book - REAL YOU INCORPORATED - about the process. But, just like the cobbler's children, when it came time for me to take a look at my brand, I froze. I mean, my stories have been "Sparkling with humor and heart" since 2011. I loved that tagline, and my happy Gerbera daisy, too. But, change can be good, too! I'm beyond excited for next September when my second domestic suspense novel, BEST DAY EVER, arrives in the world. I say second because it is. ALL THE DIFFERENCE was my first domestic suspense novel, but I've been forcing it under the "sparkling" branding all this time. (Sorry, ALL THE DIFFERENCE characters.)But now, it's [...]

City of Love, contemporary romance novel, out now!

By |2023-02-06T23:41:55+00:00March 2, 2016|book|Comments Off on City of Love, contemporary romance novel, out now!

I'm so excited to share that City of Love, part of Melissa Foster's Remington's Kindle World, is out now for your Kindle (Amazon only!).  The book is a part of a big release, sixteen stories all tied together. Kindle Worlds are such a fun escape for me as a writer because I have a chance to create  characters who get to have fun and romance in the city of New York, a completely different setting than my beach-based stories. It's also great to work in conjunction with all of these talented authors to grow a great world. I hope you'll give City of Love, and all these wonderful stories a read!                      More about City of Love: Her heart is empty in the new life she’s living. Charlotte Taylor knows she’s gorgeous. She’s been told that [...]

Anticipation.

By |2023-02-06T23:49:25+00:00April 8, 2014|attitude|Comments Off on Anticipation.

It's that time of year. Anticipation is in the air. Some of us watch and marvel at the first buds of spring, anticipating the glorious flowers to appear. Others, like my high school son, anxiously await spring break to arrive this Friday. It's of course, the time for Easter and Passover. And for many authors, it's the time when new books are released. Including mine. I was trying to explain the feeling I have inside, the anxiety surrounding a new release and it's hard to explain to someone who isn't in the creative field. But for those of us who are, you get it. It's unveiling the work of art for the first time, playing your new song in front of a live crowd for the first time, that butterfly inducing, fingernail biting feeling.  And sure, reviews are already appearing, so I'm already getting accustomed [...]
