SOMEBODY’S HOME is available for preorder!

By |2023-02-07T00:06:37+00:00September 2, 2021|Uncategorized|Comments Off on SOMEBODY’S HOME is available for preorder!

Excited to announce that my latest suspense novel, SOMEBODY'S HOME, is now available for preorder! I'd love for you to add it to your TBR pile on Goodreads and BookBub, and a preorder would be great. Here's a little more about the book! A quiet neighborhood. A lovely home. A promising new beginning. In a heartbeat everything can change in this propulsive novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda. Julie Jones has left her suffocating marriage. With her teenage daughter, Jess, she’s starting over. Their new house in Oceanside is the first step toward a new life. Even if it does come with the unexpected. The previous owners, a pastor and his wife, have left something—or rather someone—behind… Tom Dean has a bitter hatred for the father who considers him a lost cause, and for the woman who’s moved into their family’s house. The [...]

I don’t believe in resolutions, but I do believe it’s up to you to make your dreams come true

By |2023-02-07T00:06:51+00:00January 13, 2020|Uncategorized|Comments Off on I don’t believe in resolutions, but I do believe it’s up to you to make your dreams come true

I was cleaning out a storage closet last weekend and found a lot of things. Call it my New Year’s clean out. Among other things: An article about my husband and I written in 2007 when we were building the Real Living brand together. Seems so long ago, but then again, like yesterday. I also found a printed copy of one of the speeches I gave when I was traveling the country after my first book, REAL YOU INCORPORATED: 8 Essentials for Women Entrepreneurs came out in 2008. I travelled all over the country to promote the book, speaking to groups of women entrepreneurs. It was fabulous. I often ended my talks by urging people to put their passions into action, and that it’s up to you to live the life of your dreams. And I took my own advice. In  2009, we sold our [...]

Thanksgiving was so wonderful. I hope yours was, too!

By |2023-02-07T00:07:05+00:00December 9, 2019|Uncategorized|Comments Off on Thanksgiving was so wonderful. I hope yours was, too!

I know, we’re into December and a couple other big holidays are on the horizon, but I just wanted to do a shout out to my favorite reason to gather the family together: Thanksgiving. I am so blessed to have all four kids living near me, and able to come home and spend the holiday with us. I know, I’ve heard it from plenty of others, that it gets increasingly complicated once there are husbands and wives added to the mix. So, for now, I’m thankful, grateful and feeling blessed to have the kids to myself, with some great significant others in the mix. And now, with everybody back absorbed into busy twenty-something lives, my heart hangs onto the memories of our long weekend together. That’s what life is all about.

Wildfires and Creative Sparks

By |2023-02-07T00:07:12+00:00November 25, 2019|authors, Real You, Uncategorized|Comments Off on Wildfires and Creative Sparks

It’s Santa Ana wind and wildfire season out here in California and I must admit, it’s terrifying. My home burned down when I was in high school. The fire started early in the morning and my whole family was asleep inside at the time. I’ve always been afraid of fire–but now, with these catastrophic episodes igniting all around me, it’s a whole new level. I very much feel for all who have been in these fires paths, and for the first responders working so hard to keep them contained. I’m also asthmatic, so the smoke from these immense fires sends a cloud of particulate pollution into the air that lurks around for weeks, even after the flames are doused. So what does this have to do with writing? I’m forcing myself to imagine this edgy time as being filled with creative sparks. (Non-combustible and imaginary [...]

It’s that time again: My new novel is out in the world!!

By |2023-02-07T00:07:40+00:00May 21, 2019|Uncategorized|Comments Off on It’s that time again: My new novel is out in the world!!

What a great day! I love May, and I love having a new book out in the world. THE FAVORITE DAUGHTER is my second release with the team at Graydon House and they've done such a fabulous job. The cover is amazing, the publicity team has been working overtime, my editor continues to support me and cheer me on, and now, it's out there. Our jobs are complete - this is where you, as a reader, come in. I'd be honored if you'd consider reading Jane Harris' story. It's a perfect summer read - Jane lives at the beach - and if you like domestic suspense, you've found the right narrator. :-) I'll let Jane introduce herself via a postcard she's hoping to send to suspense readers everywhere. Dear Reader, I can't wait to meet you. As I write this I'm looking out at the [...]

Happy 2019! Better late than never!

By |2023-02-07T00:07:47+00:00January 27, 2019|Uncategorized|Comments Off on Happy 2019! Better late than never!

Apologies for my lack of posts since this summer, but it has been an incredibly busy, amazing and surreal time for the Rouda household. My husband ran for political office for the first time. After a long primary, where he won by a mere 125 votes, followed by a tough general election against a 30-year incumbent, where he also won, but not officially for three weeks after the November 6th election, we were swept up immediately into orientation, the holidays, and then swearing in. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know a little bit about Washington, D.C., and it’s an honor to serve our great country. (Yes, spouses serve, too. Whole families do.) And, since politics is so divisive, be assured I will remain apolitical here, as always. My career is as an author. His career can be all encompassing, even for an entire family. I’m [...]
